My husband is currently serving as part of the Negev Brigade, fighting in Gaza.

Our original date was 19/11/23. As the war began, and we started getting closer to the date, we realized things weren't going to be the way we had originally planned. We postponed our date at the hall to January 28th, but did not want to postpone the ceremony, we wanted to be married. We decided we would marry on base and celebrate later. Then came Monday morning, October 30th. Jon called me to let me know he wouldn't be available for the time being, until when? who knew? He was going into Gaza and I didn't know when I would hear from him next. After almost two weeks of no contact, I got a message that they were letting the guys out on Saturday, November 11, for 20 hours, to a base in Ashkelon. I drove up there with his family that Saturday, we all sat together for a few hours until his family went back to give us some time alone together. And that's when we made our crazy decision, to just do it today. Get married today. You never know what might happen so why wait? And the hours we had left together turned into a spontaneous wedding. We had arranged everything within hours, with the help of our families, our friends and so many kind strangers from Ashkelon. We did it, we got married on 11/11/23 and it was amazing. On Sunday, November 12th, we parted ways and he went back to Gaza. I drove down to Ashkelon that day to see my fiancée, having no idea that I would be saying goodbye to my husband.
