The bride is serving as a basic training commander in Michve Alon, working with groups of soldiers who come from difficult home backgrounds. She has been in the army for a year and three months and is set to be released in August. The groom was released from the Paratroopers Brigade in September and was called up a month later to fight in the war as part of Reserves Duty.

We met over two years ago at a Jewish sleep away camp in Pennsylvania (Camp Stone,) where we were counselors in the same age group. After we both came back to Israel we met up, and we’ve been dating ever since. Throughout our two year relationship, we navigated both of us drafting to the army, long periods of training where we didn’t have our phones, not seeing each other for long stretches of time, and many visits on bases. Our engagement was no different. We spontaneously decided to get engaged about two weeks into the war when Avichai (the groom) came home from the army for 24 hours. We are so excited to be getting married and we are praying for quieter times and everyone’s safety as we celebrate our wedding and start our life together.
